The cost of keeping a collector car is four different papers, and a single total hides which one moved. Write place, upkeep, movement and insurance on separate rows, and copy an amount only from a bill you hold.
This page is the sheet. It is not a quote, and it is not a forecast. The ownership costs section is the shelf it sits on. The room itself is checked on the storage checklist. The car’s papers are a different job, on the provenance note.
Why the rows stay separate
A storage bill can rise while the car is not driven. A haulage bill appears only when the car moves. An insurance premium follows the policy you bought, not the workshop invoice. Adding them before you name them makes the next change impossible to explain.
The sheet
The blank worksheet is the thing this title promises. The same rows are in a plain-text file you can print or copy: classic-car-cost-worksheet.txt.
| Cost file | What the bill is for | Amount from your bill | Date on the bill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Place | Where the car sits | — | — |
| Upkeep | Fluids, wear, repair | — | — |
| Movement | Haulage, or a driven trip | — | — |
| Insurance | Premium, and what the policy covers | — | — |
A row with no paper stays blank. Do not borrow a number from a forum, a listing or this site.
One insurance sentence that is limited to UK roads
GOV.UK’s vehicle-insurance overview, read on 15 October 2026, says you must have motor insurance to drive a vehicle on UK roads. It says third party insurance is the legal minimum, and that this minimum means cover if an accident causes damage or injury to any other person, vehicle, animal or property. It says that minimum does not cover other costs such as repair to your own vehicle.
That paragraph is about driving on UK roads. It is not a description of a collector-car policy in another country, and it is not a premium. If the car is not driven on those roads, write down the rule that actually governs the place where it sits, from that place’s own page. The premium you pay still goes on the sheet from your own bill.
Storage conditions that can change the upkeep row are on the checklist. Equipment that supports the building, such as a lift or a climate machine, is a different sheet: life-cycle cost.
How this page was written
The only outside rule quoted here is the UK insurance overview named below. No price, premium or tax figure is printed. The sheet is blank because a sample amount would be an invention.
